About Myself:

My name is Peter and I am the director of Bur Oak Tutoring. I have completed my undergraduate degree at University of Toronto with an Honour Bachelor of Science, specialist in Biochemistry, in 2005. After my graduation, I have worked in an academic laboratory at U of T for two years. Since I left the lab, I have been involved in tutoring high school students. In 2012, I have obtained my Bachelor of Education at University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Oshawa, Ontario. I had opportunities to associate with different teachers in various elementary and secondary schools. The teaching experiences were invaluable which allow me to understand the need of current students.


Learning is a self-discovery process and no one can be forced to learn. As a tutor, my role is to inspire learners to learn by creating an interest in the subject matter. My role as a tutor is to reinforce key concepts that they have learned in day school, or to provide them alternative explanations to solidify the big ideas. I believe that reflection is a key to success. It is crucial for students to recognize their own mistakes through the process of self-assessment. As a tutor, I would like to share my tips that allow my students to develop their own learning skills that best fit their learning styles.


I love tutoring, because it allows me to build personal relationships with different parents and students. Communication is the key to success in the tutoring field. I have worked with a wide spectrum of students. I recognize that different students have different learning needs. Knowing my students helps me to implement differentiated and personalized approaches in tutoring. It makes the tutoring sessions more valuable, effective and enjoyable.
